LHDP 3x12

(If you want to watch the episode without downloading it, the link is at the end of the post)

The episode begins with Silvia in a space suit, desperately trying to save Lucas who is flatlining on the table. Paco, Sara, Lola, et.al. are outside the lab crying.

By the end of the scene, it seems that Lucas has died. But since this is LHDP, you know that is never a certainty.

So the next scene is where it all begins: Silvia is checking a set of vials that the Pacos confiscated from a suspicious-looking guy.

The vials are engraved "virus" and Dr. Silvia has to do all sorts of lab and other geeky stuff to identify exactly what she has. Finally, the computer returns: "Mutation unknown"
Photobucket
Photobucket
Realizing the danger, Silvia activates all sensors to detect if the virus becomes airborne (in case it mutates) and overwrites the comisaria's security system (to put the lab in lockdown in case the sensors are activated)
Photobucket

Silvia goes directly to Don Lorenzo to apprise him of the situation. She thinks the virus comes from an illegal lab somewhere and could actually be used for biological warfare.

While Silvia and Don Lorenzo are talking about their next move, the alarm goes off, the air-vents get shut, and the lab is locked down: the virus is now airborne in the lab.
Photobucket
What the fuck happened? Since this is LHDP, something really stupid. A very pissed Lucas shoves Paco and Pove into the lab so he can beat the crap out of Paco because he thinks he has been lied to regarding the death of his father. In the course of beating each other out, Lucas knocks one of the virus vials into the floor then fell on it, cutting himself in the process. That's WHAT happened.
Photobucket
Silvia runs to the lab, breaks the glass case to overwrite a code to restore power in the lab (although it remains locked). She then looks at the 3 bozos and since they cannot hear each other through the presumably very thick glass, Silvia calls their mobile. She tells them that the virus is mutating and she doesn't know what they're dealing with, then directs Pove to seal the door with some foamy thing.

Lucas starts coughing and Silvia realizes that he might be infected. She asks Pove to get the oxygen tanks which are good for 30 minutes and asks them to put on the oxygen masks.
Photobucket
Next scene shows the hazmat unit already sealing San Antonio while Silvia, Don Lorenzo, and some doctor guy (Dr. Roncala?) are going down the stairs to brief the rest of the crew on the situation.

Photobucket
Photobucket
Rita is worried about the father of her unborn baby so Don Lorenzo sends Silvia to comfort her while he argues with Dr. Roncala about what to do with his staff. Then Dr. Death tells Silvia that once the virus enters the bloodstream, it could be fatal.

Silvia rushes back to the lab to see if Lucas has had direct contact with the virus. Which he had because he is STUPID! So Silvia tells Paco to monitor Lucas and call her for any changes. She comes back with Dr. Death to supervise Paco and Pove in giving Lucas a steroids shot to help him breathe.

Photobucket
However, Lucas gets really agitated after the cortizoid shot and Silvia shuts down and gives the phone to Dr. Death who directs Paco to make an incision on Lucas' neck to help him breathe (like a trachaetomy, I guess)
Photobucket
Dr. Death tells Silvia that the virus is affecting Lucas very rapidly and they need the anti-virus ASAP to save him.
Photobucket
While the entire comisaria is frantically doing everything to get the anti-virus, including Montoya cussing in English (sorry, not in the clip), Silvia and Dr. Death enter the lab in their space suits to monitor Lucas' condition.
Photobucket
Photobucket
Lucas flatlines and we pick up where the first scene left off, Silvia doing CPR, defib, whatever to save him.
Photobucket
Photobucket
And just to highlight the originality of LHDP writers, when Silvia shocks Lucas and he presumably dies, he experiences flashbacks (in faded color to signify the past, I guess) including his wedding day to Silvia. Didn't Aitor experience exactly the same thing when he was poisoned, except he was shivering in the snow during his flashbacks?
Photobucket
Just when it seems Lucas is really dead and everyone is crying, including Silvia who is still doing compressions while dramatic soundtrack plays...
Photobucket
... Mariano rushes in with the anti-virus.

(Back story: Virus guy was arrested at the beginning of the episode and was brought to the station with his suspicious-looking vials in a metal attache case. After Lucas was infected, the Pacos gave him the 3rd degree to get the anti virus but he wouldn't budge because he feared for his and his family's safety. So they gave him some drugs to erase his short term memory - including having been arrested - brought him back to his car which was still out in the field somewhere. Virus guy woke up with a headache and had conveniently forgotten everything, and drove on to sell the virus. The Pacos followed him to his buyers. Et voilà, anti-virus is found!)

Photobucket
While the rest of the comisaria is grieving Lucas' death, Silvia administers the anti-virus through his IV, then shocks him one more time. And dramatically, the flat line starts beeping. Lucas is alive and Silvia looks very happy.

At the parking garage, Silvia is looking lovingly at Lucas while she takes him to the waiting ambulance. Then Sara comes and Silvia notices immediately the light in Lucas' face. However, they are both overshadowed when Lucas gives his biggest smile to Eva from Internal Affairs who says "te quiero" to him while Sara and Silvia look on disgusted. In the end, it is Eva who gets in the ambulance with Lucas. Montoya witnesses the subtle drama playing out before him.

After being ignored despite her heroics, do we think Silvia has learned her lesson about saving Lucas? Uhm... no.

thank you! I love that silvia is so prominent in tnis one. do we all realize how many lives silvia has saved in LHDP? and no one could save her.

I love that you do this.

Yeah, Silvia was having a bad hair day. Again! Sometimes I think the makeup people were intentionally trying to make Silvia look plain and geeky with no sucess, of course.

It was probably hot in that space suit, that's why Marian was bouncing around.

What I don't get is the face cover thing - why? They are covered from head to toe but their faces only have a front cover? Uhm, the virus can still enter through the sides and all the open spaces, morons!

I think they sell the same plastic suit to protect yourself when you paint (not artistic but house painting).

I totally didn't notice the face cover thing had openings on the side when I watched this episode.

Man, LHDP did not do alot of realism into the show.

Silvia rocks, even when having a bad hair day. It's a pity that she was always there, fixing everything for Lucas, who never really appreciated her. I'm watching the episodes in Spanish right now from the beginning and am getting pissed every time poor, tortured, big-eyed Lucas gets soothed, saved etc. by Silvia, when most of the times he forgets even to say 'thank you'.
