Back story: After being exposed to some dangerous virus from last episode, both Lucas (accompanied by Eva) and Paco (with Lola and Sara), in 2 different ambulances, were to go to the hospital for observation. Paco's ambulance was ambushed by unknown gunmen and he and his family were abducted.
Don Lorenze is easily swayed and proclaims that they are going to conduct a parallel investigation, then assigns a task to each one. He closes by saying, "Let's find my family." Mariano is suffering from some blurry vision.
Inside the locker room, Silvia is looking at the mirror when Ruth comes in and tells her that everything is going to be okay.
But Silvia says that she's feeling lost and she shows Ruth the positive early pregnancy test. And she says she needs her sister and she's going to be a mother and she's so happy.
She then hugs Ruth - who happens to be currently dating her baby-daddy (Montoya). And from the look on Ruth's face, she's not ready to be a step-mother.
Next we see the guy who was covered in lamb's blood from Episode 3x01 holding Lucas hostage.
Back story: Latin American guy splattered himself with blood in Episode 1 so he could go inside the police station and kill the corrupt ex-commissioner from season 2. In this episode, Lucas gives him his gun so he and Lamb Blood (LB) guy can leave the comisaria under the hostage pretense, and LB can lead him to Paco, et. al. It works, despite the entire police station's guns being pointed at them! Really? I wouldn't ever want these cops attempting to rescue me if I were held hostage with a gun on my head!

Yeah! the first to post. I just have to say, Silvia is looking tired these days and she should be! She just saved Lucas' life for nothing and now she's a preggie!
Sigh... where is Pepa when Silvia needed her!!
The dynamics of the family verses the loyality within the ranks at the precinct are always within the story line. It was there from the very first episode and continued to draw the characters closer - making it very personal. It works on so many levels.
I remember watching the first couple of episodes and was completely confused with trying to understand who was who in the larger scheme of things. (I admit, I started watching mid way through the Pepa story - because of the PepSi story) As I began to back track and continue to do so here, I began to realize that the family connection is one more reason why I like this show so much. It offers the audience a need to look within themselves and draws on our emotions.
I see, personal issues versus loyality (?), it is showed mostly in two kinds of tv series. And there, they probably randomly chose "police station" background over the medical drama. But it takes me some time to realize that their behaviour during actions is so poor that it's kind of funny. I mean, a cop held hostage, a murderer pointing gun to his head and all of them act like little girls. It's even worse in next episode: they arrive in front of the house where they think Paco is held hostage, that is probably filled with criminals, they go out of their cars and THEN start to making a plan, putting on bullet-proof vests, when they can already be reached by bullets? Seeing that I was sure someone is going to pull out sandwiches and start a picnic -_-'
They did play up the whole family and loyalty thing - which makes Lola's absence @ Silvia's wedding even more glaring. LHDP writers also think that loyalty and family are the salvation of these oh-so-inept Keystone Cops - no matter how much they have screwed up, they still have each other. The whole "comisaria is family" thing makes all the romantic relationships within almost incestuous. GAH!
After watching all these old episodes, one will surely question last season's ending, at least from the point of view of the writers. Because by killing 4 members, they destroyed, no, they NUKED into smithereens the very fabric of the family that is LHDP. And really, where is the salvation in that?
musicbuttons... you are correct. The family connection and loyalty is one of the reasons I love this show the most. The comedy and drama mixed in makes it more entertaining also.
Piper has a point... the season finale seemed way left field and will competely change the meaning of LHDP. Season 9 is going to be different that's for sure.
Piper...I agree with the whole Lola absence being an insult. I believe this even more after just read the recap that was posted today. Grrr.... The writers slap us again with the importance of family with the little story from all of the "dead" characters and how this is the only way they would want to die.
Back on subject with this episode...
Kat-thelhdpfan....they do make quite a few mistakes to get the comic relief going. Their decisions are so ridiculus that it works for the story.
**side note** Silvia's hair is looking much better in this episode. :-)
as much as I look forward to these updates, I am very sad tonight after reading random flores recaps. It brought it all back...the choices in that ending. why couldn't they have at least said something about lola struggling and that she couldn't face paco, etc? seeing how they all were connected and dependent on each other.
to see silvia's beautiful face with all her hopes and dreams...breaks my heart. sounds silly,huh?
Not silly at all. It seems final after reading the last recap. I tried rewatching a few of my favorite episodes and couldn't even do that.
